A special thanks this week to everyone in our hospitals, ERs, nursing facilities, and taking home call who worked through the holiday.
On January 1, physicians and patients in New Jersey will experience a major prior authorization victory: Insurance companies will now be required to respond in 24 hours for urgent needs and 72 hours for everything else. Prior auth reforms are gaining momentum nationwide thanks to the leadership of physicians like Dr. Tina Shah, Chief Clinical Officer of Abridge, who worked tirelessly with a diverse coalition of physicians and organizations like the Medical Society of New Jersey and the AMA to bring about this change. On the How I Doctor podcast, she shared her successful game plan that any physician can also use to bring about reform in their state.
The broader lesson couldn't be more clear for physicians: When we take the time to lift our heads up and unite, we can enact real changes. In 2025, let's make New Jersey just the start!
